Originally, the word ‘critical’ comes from the Greek ‘cratein’, which means “to distinguish”. It is an art that is very useful (often, the distinctions we work with in the business world are the ones we were taught during formal education, without new distinctions being made). The ability to make distinctions is a powerful tool in learning. The exercises to strengthen that ability combine with awareness of how perception and rationality work, and are, among other things, applied to problem solving and decision making.
